ADA Title III and your documents
Title III of the ADA covers businesses open to the public ("public accommodations"). DOJ's guidance says the ADA's requirements apply to the goods and services they offer on the web.
What DOJ says about standards
In its March 18, 2022 guidance, DOJ says it "does not have a regulation setting out detailed standards" and that businesses "can currently choose how they will ensure" their online offerings are accessible. It names WCAG and the Section 508 Standards as existing technical standards that "provide helpful guidance". (DOJ's 2024 web rule is for state and local governments under Title II, not Title III.)
Where Accessmith fits
Many teams use WCAG 2.1 AA as their working target. Accessmith helps you find and fix issues against WCAG 2.1 AA in Word and PowerPoint, and lists what a person must review.
