WCAG 2.1 AA for PowerPoint
Accessmith checks decks inside PowerPoint and helps you fix what Office lets an add-in change.
| Check | Accessmith |
|---|---|
| Slide titles missing or duplicated | Finds them; one-click title for empty title placeholders |
| Pictures, charts and SmartArt without alt text, or with file-name alt text | Finds them; type alt text or mark decorative in the pane (PowerPoint on the web, or Microsoft 365 version 2601 or later) |
| Text contrast below 4.5:1 (3:1 for large text) | Finds it on solid backgrounds; text on pictures or gradients is listed for a person |
| Presentation title | Finds it; one-click fix |
| Reading order | Not checked automatically: check it by hand |
| Tables and links on slides | Not read by the add-in yet: check by hand |
A person still has to check what no automatic tool can judge: whether alt text is accurate and useful, reading order on complex slides, meaning carried by colour alone, captions for media, plain language, and anything Accessmith flags as "check by hand".
